PATROL DIVISION

The Patrol Division is the most visible component of the Littleton Police Department. It includes all of the Uniformed Police Officers, the School Resource Officer and the Detective Division. The number of officers assigned to patrol our community varies from shift to shift. The Patrol Division reacts and responds to daily community incidents and concerns, but also tries to proactively address perceived community needs by shifting staffing resources to address those concerns. Officers of the department are committed to the Community Policing philosophy and believe in protecting the quality of life the Town of Littleton is known for. Our daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to, identifying criminal activity, apprehending offenders, participating in court proceedings, aiding individuals in danger of physical harm, directing traffic, enforcing motor vehicle law and maintaining a feeling of security for the Town of Littleton.

Officers in the Patrol Division are given the opportunity to receive specialized training in many areas of law enforcement such as accident reconstruction, evidence collection, crime scene photography, court prosecution, drug recognition, sexual assault investigation, child safety programs, and bicycle patrol. The Patrol Division currently incorporates a K-9 Unit, Bike Patrol, the D.A.R.E. program, Honor Guard and selected members are assigned to the Central New Hampshire Special Operations Unit. Our officers participate in the New Hampshire Cadet Training Academy and assist the New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Council (the police academy) with specific training needs. The Patrol Division participates in many community related programs such as the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics of New Hampshire, Keep Kids Safe events and bicycle safety education.
